Each Unidox Capsule contains Doxycycline Hydrocholoride equivalent to 100 mg Doxycycline BP.

 Description

Unidox (Doxycycline) is bacteriostatic and highly active broad-spectrum antibiotic or tetracycline group.

Doxycycline interferes with protein synthesis and binds by the 30s ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing the attachment of amynoacyl transfer RNA to messenger RNA- ribosome complex. It is active against a wide range Gram positive and Gram-negative bacteria, spirochetes, mycoplasma, sickttsia and mycobacteria. It is almost completely absorbed (95%) from the gastro-intestinal tract food does not interfere with the absorption. 95% of the drug is circulation is bound to plasma protein. Biological half-life varies between 16 hours following a single dose to 23 hours on repeated doses. A very small amount is excreted in the urine. The drug is excreted in the feces.
