Maxifer

Iron Sucrose Inj.

Presentation:

Maxifer Inj: Each 5 ml ampoule contains Iron Sucrose USP equivalent to 100 mg Elemental Iron.

Description:

Iron sucrose injection (iron replacement product) is a sterile, aqueous, complex of polynuclear iron (III)-hydroxide in sucrose for intravenous use. Administration of Iron Sucrose replenishes tissue Iron stores, reverses Iron depletion and Iron-deficient erythropoiesis and corrects or prevents Iron deficiency anemia. Iron Sucrose is dissociated into iron and sucrose and the iron is transported as a complex with transferrin to target cells including erythroid precursor cells. The iron in the precursor cells is incorporated into hemoglobin as the cells mature into red blood cells. Intravenous Iron Sucrose is more effective and well tolerated in comparison with oral Iron preparations and it is the treatment of choice for anemia due to Iron deficiency.

Therapeutic Class: Hematinic.
