Ciprofloxacin USP

Presentation

Kapron-250 Tablet: Each tablet contains Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride USP equivalent to Ciprofloxacin 250 mg.

Kapron-500 Tablet: Each tablet contains Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride USP equivalent to Ciprofloxacin 500 mg.

Kapron-750 Tablet: Each tablet contains Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride USP equivalent to Ciprofloxacin 750 mg.

Kapron Powder for Suspension: Each 5 ml reconstituted suspension contains Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride USP equivalent to Ciprofloxacin 250 mg.

Kapron IV Infusion 100 ml: Each 100 ml solution contains Ciprofloxacin Lactate equivalent to Ciprofloxacin BP 200 mg.

Description

Ciprofloxacin is a synthetic fluoroquinolone. It has bactericidal activity against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It inhibits bacterial DNA synthesis by binding with the bacterial enzyme-DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV (responsible for DNA supercoiling).

Ciprofloxacin is indicated for the treatment of Respiratory tract infections, Urinary tract infections, Pelvic inflammatory diseases, Infectious Diarrhea (ShigelladysenteriaeVibrio cholerae), Typhoid fever, Intra-abdominal infections, Skin and soft tissue infections, Bone and joint infections, Gonorrhea, Meningitis & Surgical prophylaxis. Ciprofloxacin infusion is indicated in Neutropenic patients with fever due to bacterial infection.
